I gave a seminar at the Christian Home Education Association of California convention at BIOLA on May 17th.

It’s not just China; teens and even young adults in America are falling into this as well. The boys tend to go for sex fantasy chatbots, the girls for the emotional connection chatbots, but both are destructive. Keep your kids (and yourself) far away from this.
People who get used to virtual emotional / sexual relationships with a machine will struggle to form real ones with their fellow humans. Why? Because no real man can ever live up to the emotional availability of an AI boyfriend, and no real woman can ever live up to the fantasy fulfillment of an erotic chatbot.
AI can be your research assistant, your tutor, your proofreader… but not your BFF or your therapist.
Not surprisingly though, Mark Zuckerberg has a different take.
The man who has made an empire mining your momentary attention patterns on Facebook would love for you to spill your innermost secrets to his AI therapist. Hard pass from me. And I hope from you as well.
NO EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS TO MACHINES! By the time you sense it forming, it will already be hard to break. Especially for kids.
